We offer the most scenic rides in the Sandhills of NE with seasonal and customized ride options… with or without lessons.
We will work with you to create the perfect customized experience to meet your individual needs and preferences.
This is the perfect combination for peaceful relaxation and rejuvenation, yet exciting adventure as you experience the unique beauty of the panoramic breathtaking views of the Sandhills.
Trail Rides
You will ride on 100,000 remote acres of private ranchlands with open prairie of tall grasses, springs and creeks to secret lakes. Enjoy seeing wildlife in an undisturbed natural habitat with no roads or power poles.
You will also ride on thousands of acres of public lands around the Calamus Reservoir enjoying canyons with trees and white sandy beaches certain times of the year. .
Adventure on the Trails
Swimming with your horse is also available depending on the season and water levels. Note our trails are not highly groomed or marked… but they are mostly easy… however you can choose more challenging routes.
The length of rides can be adapted from short to all day rides .
Lodging Accommodations at Horse Lover's Bunkhouse
Our country bunkhouse has horse charm and modern comfort for an unforgettable experience located in the heart of the Sandhills of NE.
We do NOT have campground hook up facilities… There are no horse camping places around the Calamus Reservior.
However, my sister has a ranch nearby with camper hookups. You will have to make arrangements through me.
Our bunkhouse is clean and fully furnished, including linens, dishes, pots and pans for cooking, a grill and refrigerator, plus wireless internet, but no TV.
It has one bathroom, a living area, two bedrooms with 5 beds total. (1 queens, 1 full, 2 twins and a full futon).
No meals are provided but we are only 1-2 miles from some nice restaurants in town and a grocery store

Comfort for your horses in 4 outdoor 12x12 steel panel outdoor pens
or indoor stalls are available as well…
Bring your own bedding for indoor…
Bring your own water buckets and hay.
Round pen and riding arena available.

For our 2021 Happy Trails 3 Day Riding Specials most people arrive by early afternoon on the first day… we have time for a FREE ride on the section by the Bunkhouse…
The second day is a long trail ride on private ranch followed by shopping at the Dry Creek Western Wear…
The Third day is an early morning trail ride near the Calamus Reservoir… leaving by mid to late afternoon.
This is a suggested agenda... of course it is flexible to meet your needs and allow for weather conditions.
(We do not ride in Thunderstorms or extremely high winds over 50 mph)
(No children under 12 years of age without prior permission)
(Riding lessons are available for an extra charge)
